Both Joe and Avis are interested in conservation of land, forestry and history. The cabin has been in their family since 1855.

General History

The Old Place was established circa 1780 to 1801 and is a pre-civil war cabin totally reconstructed. Lots of civil war history and great artifacts. Located just a 10th of a mile off the main road. The cabin has two sections to include kitchen, great room, 3 bedrooms, two large stone fireplaces with gas logs, 2 1/2 baths (whirlpool in master bath). There is a large front porch and a screened back porch. Secluded, quiet and peaceful with several hiking trails.
